The University of San Carlos
The University of San Carlos was founded in 1678 in La Antigua and thus became the third University founded in the New World.
La Antigua is nestled in a valley surrounded by gigantic volcanoes, it’s mild, fresh climate is spring like all year around. Hidden within these historic monuments are dozens of modern yet rustic hotels, restaurants, museums, markets and art galleries. La Antigua, with a population of 30,000, is located 45 minutes drive from
downtown Guatemala city and the international airport.
