La Voz del ExteriorBackground:Recognizing the importance that studying abroad was to his own professional formation; in 1991 Dr. Barker formed La Voz del Exterior to promote and provide international learning experiences to medical students, residents and faculty. He contacted 350 graduates from his medical school (National University of Cordoba (NUC)) who were living and practicing medicine in countries outside of Argentina and invited them to join him in this effort.
Since its' inception the organization has funded/hosted 12 UNC medical students who have spent 3-14 months living in the US and working in US hospitals. In addition La Voz del Exterior has facilitated clinical rotations in Argentina to 4 US medical students and has donated medical supplies and equipment to Hospitals in Argentina.
